Quick Stop in Marseille

On our way to Italy we made a two night stay in the south of France in the city of Marseille. When we first arrived we felt like we were in the wrong location. Our Airbnb hosts lived on a street with an open air market, but once the market clears out for the day it is a bit of a disaster. After a few minutes our hosts found us wandering aimlessly in the street and we got settled.

With our limited time in France (we'll be going back later, stay tuned!) we soaked up as much of Marseille as we could. We walked along the port and by the beach, visited the basilica Notre-Dame de la Garde, got an amazing view of the city and the Mediterranean Sea, and enjoyed a bottle of wine by a fountain.

We also made a friend! Our Airbnb hosts were hosting someone else while we were there, Christelle from Lyon, France, and we chatted and grabbed dinner at a lovely spot called Le Tire Bouchon. She helped us converse with our waiter and decide on the best tapas to snack on which was very helpful. This Airbnb was also the first of a few to house an Airbnb cat. We were quite fond on Pinceau and he was happy to play with us as well. The next time we'll be in France will be far from the sea but closer to the the wine. For now, on to Italia!
